What's happening in 2022 Summer?
Taking in the feedback from 2021 we have created a plan for things to work on and improve in 2022 as well as some new things for the upcoming season.
Start-up of Canyons in Kii Peninsula (Mie, Wakayama)
Fergus will be leading the new operation with the aim to start by July 16th. The location and tour courses have already been decided and Mike is in the process of negotiating with the prefectural and local government.
Ticino Canyoning Tour
It is expected that international travel will reopen in 2022 summer. Many repeaters have been waiting for a special overseas trip for the last 2 years so to celebrate the return of travel we will create a tour to the best canyoning destination in the world. Planned dates Sept 17-25th. Mike will be accompanied by one more guide that the customers choose.
Outdoor Education Reboot
Canyons have secured a couple of large contracts with Japan-based international schools. This means more business in shoulder seasons, April-May, October-November. We currently have bookings for 5 solid weeks post-Golden Week (May 9th - June 17th) which means a lot of work for guides. To handle the OE groups and still provide normal and special tours for repeat customers the idea is to create 3 teams; OE team 1, OE team 2, Normal operations team. Internship and training collaboration with I-NAC
From 2022 Canyons will be working closely with I-NAC (Outdoor School) to create a rafting and canyoning guide training and intern program. We hope to increase the number of interns but also be able to employ more graduates as guides by providing more experience and training sessions within the official school curriculum.
